Days 15 and 16

CROSS-POST:

http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/day-15-and-16

Wassup Kidulters! What's good? I've been SO BUSY. Today I had an SGA Meeting then as soon as I came home, I had an SAT class and then I had 2 go back to school for college night. I'm crazy tired but I'll survive (at least I hope, lol). At college night, we learned about the application process and how we should apply to AS MANY COLLEGES as financially possible. Now if you have a 1.5 GPA and your applying to Harvard, Princeton, Brown and Yale, that's just DUMB! Sorry, but that's just the plain truth. You also have to be realistic in the choices of actual schools you apply to, it's OK to have 2-3 dream schools but don't fill up your college choices with school that are remotely impossible.

We also learned that it is also VERY IMPORTANT TO APPLY FOR FAFSA (financial aid provided by the government) whether you fit their demographic or not because many colleges still base their scholarships off of the information you input onto your FAFSA form, it's wise though to apply for FAFSA around Janurary and not as soon as school starts because you'll end up applying with FAFSA forms for outgoing seniors of the previous class.

Advice to underclassmen: When offered a college information night or a college fair at your school or somewhere else, JUST GO! (especially when your a senior) What do you have to lose?

Otherwise, my day has been "aiight", just chillen, stuck doing homework. Coming up with plans for tailgating for spirit week which is not too far away, so we will see what happens....I have a lot of homework so I've got to cut it short for today. PEACE! Thank you for walking 2 days in my shoes on days FIFTEEN and SIXTEEN of my senior year in high school.

Day 12, 13 and 14/BE THANKFUL FOR THE LIFE YOU GOT!

CROSS-POST ON KIDULT.COM:

http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/day-12-13-14be-thankful-4-the-life-u-got

I'm sure you guys have been wondering where I've been? (Or maybe not....) But let's pretend you really cared and were curious, just so I'm not sad, lol. Well, I've been busy with school, studying for some exams, quizzes and tests, (IDK if there is a difference between any of those words, is there?) and I've been trying to learn and re-learn skills for the SAT as much as possible, I decided against taking the test on October so I could get the highest score possible so November, HERE I COME! (Actually, I think I toldya guys that already....oh well). In between, I've gone to debate team and student governments meetings after school and I've been checking out some college apps online, starting the actual "applying process" next week. In conclusion, my week has not been interesting enough to write blog posts anytime this week. Advice to BLOGGERS: If you have nothing to say, then don't say it or blog it.

But, now that I think about it, something really caught my eyes this week.

I should warn you that the next story I'm about to tell you might get a little graphic, so be warned!

4 people living in a house together, living their normal lives. A father who has dreams and aspirations for his two daughters and was able to fulfill an American dream of his own by becoming a doctor and marrying his dream girl. One day, their normal lives were ruined, and ruined....forever. Two men entered their house boisterously and without invitation andstart an invasion. They tied up the father and two daughters and held them hostage at home while their mom went to the bank with one of the men. While the mom, who was forced to withdraw a large sum of money, was talking to bank clerks, she told them to call the police about the situation that was happening at home. The police never responded until 30 minutes later when bedlam erupted because after the mother got home, she was taken to her room, strapped onto her bed with rope and raped; she was then set on fire and left there to die, a huge fire erupted in the house while the two daughters were still tied up. The father, who was in a separate room, luckily escaped and crawled to his neighbor's house to call 911 just as the two men who took this household by storm were escape and flee from the scene. Sadly, the three most important girls of his life burned to death.

As I write this piece, I still get chills from the Petit family murders in Connecticut even though this story has been all over TV this week and I've heard it a bunch of times. The murders actually happened in 2007, but have gained steam in the national headlines because one of the murderers is on trial now. May the deceased Petit's rest in peace and may Dr. Petit find peace and calm in his life. This story teaches us that we should NEVER take life for granted because we never know when and where and under what circumstances our life is going to end. Things may not be going your way right now, maybe your like me and your stressed about college and school in general, maybe your having family problems or relationship problems, or maybe your going through challenges that you don't think you are possible to get out of. I'm here to tell you that all things are possible, if you just BELIEVE. Your situation may be bad, but it could have been even worse! So be thankful for the life you have because there are so many people going through things that might be even worse than what you are going through and they might even wish they were walking in your shoes. Not tryna impose my beliefs, but, trust in God because through him there is always a way out.

DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE BECAUSE OF SOMETHING PETTY, YOUR LIFE IS WORTH LIVING SO BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YA GOT!!!

Be breezy, God bless, I'm out......

Thank you

Cross-post on Kidult.com: http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/thank-you

Thank you so much for the support guys, I hope your learning from my life as well as being entertained in some way, shape or form. We got as high as NUMBER 4 on the Most Viewed Pages list on Kidult so thank YOU so much for reading!! (Now it's time to get to NUMBER 1 ASAP!!) Due to primaries I had no school (THANK GOODNESS I NEED AS MANY BREAKS AS POSSIBLE; During the winter, Let it Snow!!). But I stupidly forgot my homework in school which is something I haven't done since elementary school (actually, more like last year when I think about it SMH!!). So it's bad news because my grade drops but good news because now I have extra time to study and I go to sleep earlier WOOHOO!!!

But I digress....colleges have been calling me all day, my house phone has been off the hook!! IT'S CRAZY! Yesterday I decided to go online and sign up for all these scholarships and give my info out to many different websites without really realizing what I was doing, lol (I just need the money, haha!) I woke up this morning to all sorts of numbers calling and different representatives from various colleges in Florida and California asking for my info and why I was interested in their college. I was worried for a moment thinking it was some bill collector calling, but I had some great conversations with these guys and I learned alot about their respective schools. The only problem was that they called at some of the most inconvenient times when I wasn't ready. At one point I was surfing my Facebook when one of the reps called. I was talking informal with the rep without realizing it because my brain had become accustomed to talking informal at that very moment since I was chatting with my friends. I didn't really realize who I was talking to until I hung up the phone, I was SO embarrassed. Advice to underclassmen: Never use the words fly, cool and aiight when talking with a college representative, be as formal, polite, wise and calm as possible. At least it was a rep from a small school I wasn't that interested in, what if it was University of Maryland or UMBC!! But, I guess my vernacular at that particular moment had no effect on the person on the other line's opinion of me because they seemed ecstatic about my prospects of attending their school and blew up my email inbox, too bad I'm not going there.

Anyway, I wanted to find out where all these colleges were getting my information from; I checked my email and went through dozens and dozens of useless messages but finally I found the guilty culprit. Cappex.com. I was going to go email whoever runs the website and file a complaint before I realized how useful this website was. I honestly think it's better than College Board. It offers you options to contact whatever college you want via email, check out how many other people with the same or similar stats as you got into a certain college and even gives you an estimate on whether you have a chance at being accepted to the college of your choice or not through it's "Admission Chances" option. It also offers scholarships and spotlights scholarships being offered by other organizations and best of all, it lets you start a profile to write in your own words why you would make the best college student. While I recommend you use College Board as much as possible, I also recommend this website as well to help you out in your journey to give you an extra leg on your outlooks with college. Zinch.com, Scholarshippoints.com and Scholarships.com also do the same exact thing. Advice to underclassmen: Use the Internet not only for Facebook and Kidult but for your college search, during this time of college searching the Internet, your guidance counselor and your teachers are your BEST FRIENDS!

On my last blog post I complained about my Ravens losing, but luckily the offense began to mesh and the defense began to play with confidence and my Baltimore Ravens led by the best speaker in the world, Ray Lewis, pulled off the win in the national spotlight 10-9. Now it's on to week two against the Bengals and it's off to day TWELVE for me tomorrow. Good night Kidulters, God bless.

Day 11

Cross-post on Kidult.com: http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/day-11

Here we go with another day of school. The night before luckily I didn't have much homework, just had to study for a couple of exams. But I got the chance to watch the VMA's!!! I was so pumped and so excited because I haven't been able to watch a full VMA's from start to finish since middle school. Last year I got lucky though, because I watched the two most important part of the show; when Taylor got interrupted and when Beyonce gave Taylor her chance at redemption. In case you forgot what happened, here's a glimpse:

So, I was expecting something lively, something fly, something headline-making, but in the end NOTHING!! How could you do this to me MTV!! The night that I finally have time to watch is when you force me to boredom! Now I'm not going to lie, there were some highlights including Chelsea Handler's (the host) monologue which was actually funny. I never laughed at any of Russell Brand's jokes because they were more like personal attacks rather than jokes. Justin Bieber also did a pretty good job with his performance, I know alot of my friends HATE him; but I think he is aiight. His dance moves seemed cool and his music actually makes sense when you think about it. Here it is if you missed it:

But the lady of night was without a doubt, LADY GAGA, who won what seemed like EVERY AWARD!! But in general, I'm disappointed in how boring this year's show was, I mean I would have loved to see something fake that made headlines the next day like the Eminem/Bruno incident from the MTV Movie Awards in 2008; I mean that was scripted but it was still entertaining, but hey good behavior is better than bad behavior right??

My personal highlight was Kanye's performance. I don't really like Kanye's music anymore because he doesn't connect with me any longer, but his performance last night was banging, I actually like this new song and I'm sure Taylor does too, lol:

Anyways, so I wake up the next morning and go to school and nothing really eventful happens besides the two quizzes I took today. My bus was extremely late today and I missed the first couple minutes of class but that's about it. I was really tired so I decided to cancel my SAT prep class to work on some more concepts, especially special triangles which I do not understand!! Luckily, I have no school tomorrow so I can chill back and relax and get some sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a pure study day for me (at least I HOPE, unless Facebook has something to say about that, LMAO!). I got a call from Concordia University in New York, they are showing some interest in me so that is pretty cool. Advice to underclassmen: If a college calls YOU asking you if you want their info, then just say YES even if your not interested, it's not gonna hurt and it shows that someone actually wants you! I ended up asking where it's at, because I had never heard of it LMAO! SMH! But I'm glad someone wants me!
I'm so mad with my Baltimore Ravens who are LOSING 6-0 and are being careless with the ball, come on guys really!!!
Anyway, so long, good night, got 2 go. Thank you for walking in my shoes on day ELEVEN of my high school career!

Day 10

Cross-post on Kidult.com:
http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/day-10

So Friday was a crazy day, I missed my school bus and was sleepwalking in school, since I pulled an all-nighter the night before. Talked to my guidance counselor about switching my classes and decided to keep them the way they are. Besides that everything is cool, excited about the next couple of weeks of my senior year, doing homework right now so I got 2 go....we'll talk on Monday!

GO RAVENS!!

(They play against the Jets tomorrow night!!)

Day 8/9

Cross-post on Kidult.com: http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/day-8-and-9

Today (or should I say yesterday..) was just another ordinary day. We voted for senior superlatives today, it's crazy how everyone was vote hustlin' me and so emotional about getting voted in for something. I mean I guess it's great to be voted something but don't start talking to me all of a sudden just so you can have my vote, LOL. But I'm not gonna lie, I was part of the madness too, asking people on Facebook to vote for certain people (including myself), but once I thought about it, I realized that it's better for your classmates to think of you as a certain persona than for you to impose yourself upon them, forcing them to vote for you, because even if you win something, your not going to be remembered for that characteristic or trait, you're going to be remembered as that person who told me to vote for them. I would love to win something personally, but if I don't it's all good. Superlatives don't determine the legacy you live or the things you do in life, so advice to underclassmen: Whether you win or lose in senior superlatives JUST LIVE YOUR LIFE!!

So, I never got the chance to talk to my guidance counselor about dropping AP Spanish, but I did talk to my actual teacher. My morale went up a little just by talking to him, I realized that I actually enjoy Spanish, I just got caught up in the moment when I saw that I wasn't doing to well with my quiz results etc. More advice to underclassmen: Get to know your teachers, they are your BEST friends, some of them may get on your nerves at times but think about how many times you've been a "d-bag" towards them in class. You are going to be with them for the rest of the school year and they are going to be the same people who write your college recommendations and give you advice since they know you best, so stop bitching (OK, maybe once in a while is fine and btw, excuse my language) about them and try to get along with them!!

Seems like this year is going to be a great year with hard work and dedication, I am writing my day 8 journal on day 9 (an off day) because I took a long nap on day 8 (yesterday) and couldn't find time to write yesterday plus day 9 (today) we're off from school because of some Jewish holiday. Actually, if you count Labor Day then technically yesterday was day 9 and today is day 10, but before I confuse myself, I guess we'll just stick to the way it is right now. Doing my final touches on a summer project that is due tomorrow which is the same day our school plays their first home football game of the season. Talk to you guys later, got 2 go. God bless, be breezy, PEACE I'm Out........Thank you for walking a day in my shoes on day EIGHT and NINE of my senior year in high school.

Day 7

Cross-post on Kidult.com:
http://www.kidult.com/blogs/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-senior/day-7

Today was an OK day, nothing really significant happened. I have tons of homework to do and I'm in the middle of practicing for my SAT's in October. I had a summer project that I've had all summer to do, but sadly it took me until the last week that is was due, to actually do it; SMH! For some reason, I woke up with a good mood and great outlook on the day and my day seemed to go by so much easier. This taught me a valuable lesson, whatever is going through your mind and stressing you out should be cleared from your mind when going to school or communicating with others in society, it's better to put a smile on your face than seem peeved off and end up irritating everyone else. Due to the lack of sleep I get because of the tons of homework I get from taking 3 AP classes, my night is usually ending at earliest 1AM, so it's pretty hard to put a smile on my face; but based off of today's experience, I need to smile more no matter how tired or stressed I am, because none of my worries (i.e. college, scholarships, AP exams etc.) are ever going to go away anytime soon, but a chance to enjoy and live my life could drift away if I don't mix in school with laughter and happiness.

I am really considering switching out of AP Spanish just because I don't enjoy Spanish anymore and it seems like I'm not understanding anything we're doing in class. I feel like the sun, when it's outside during a thunderstorm (so confused, wondering what I am doing here.....actually maybe that wasn't a great analogy, but I digress...). So we'll see what happens, I'm going to talk to my guidance counselor tomorrow to see what happens and I'll let you guys know. I feel so energized today, why can't their be more 3 day weekends :(((( Anyway, I got 2 go get started on that tarea of mines, talk to you tomorrow. Thank you for walking a day in my life on Day SEVEN of my high school senior year!

day 6

Today is Monday but it's labor day!!!!! Thank goodness we have a day off from school. So I basically did nothing today or This weekend smh except for eating. I hate when I have this feeling that I have homework that I haven't done but idk what I haven't done. I hope it's just a feeling and not reality cuz I have no time for BS'ing this school year. So back to school tomar BUT I'm off on Thursday, yeah, thank God for the Jews and Rosh Shashanah (or however the hell u spell it). I still got an assignment due on Friday that I haven't finished from the summer and our school has their first home game of the season (for football), so I'm a little bummed and happy at the same time. Anyways going to bed. God bless. Be breezy and good nite. Thank u for walking anoher day in my shoes for day SIX of my senior year.

Day 3

So day 3 was ok. My whole week has been interesting. Not knowing where my 1st class was on Monday after being in the same school for 3 FREAKIN' years. Missing the bus cuz I was waiting for my bro's bus to come and ending up being late on the 2nd day of school lmao. And now today we randomly got out of school 2 hours early because of the heat. Yes, it's hot but it's been way hotter on other days we've been stuck in school. Didn't get much sleep bcuz of doing my summer projects last nite and sadly some of my teachers still posted my homework for today online even though I didn't even go to their class because of the closure........huh (shrug) oh man!! I guess I'm gonna take a nap now to catch up on some sleep. Good night even though it's only 1 pm lol. Thank u 4 walking in my shoes on day THREE of my senior year in high school -Class of '11 ALL DAY!!!
